The Petmate Automatic Pet Feeder is a great solution for dogs and cats that are on a strict feeding schedule. The Automatic Pet Feeder holds up to 5 lbs of dry pet food and will dispense preset portions of food ranging from ¼ cup to 2 cups, up to 3 times a day. Default meal times are for 6 am, 12 pm, and 6 pm, but you can adjust these times to fit you and your pet's schedule. The see-through plastic food hopper helps you monitor the level of food available. The automatic pet feeder is compatible with most dry dog and cat foods up to ¾" in diameter. The automatic pet feeder is not recommended for canned food, moist food or treats.
The automatic pet feeder is easy to set, similar to an alarm clock. First you would set the clock, then set the meals and the times they will be served and finally the portion amount served at each meal. There is a manual feed button for when you have "pet play dates" and you have to allow for more than the normal portion size. The large screen displays the current time, meals programmed (breakfast, lunch or dinner), meal size and number of meals served.
The automatic pet feeder is easy to clean. The bowl can be placed on the top rack of a dishwasher. The food hopper and lid are not dishwasher safe, but can be easily hand cleaned with a soft cloth. Parts should be completely dried before adding new food to the feeder.
